No Beaks: The End?

Who do you think won the debate?

It has been awhile since we've had a Friday Question around here...

The political pundits are punditing and the polls are figuring who won the Vice Presidential Debate between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sara Palin this morning.  But what people really want to know is what No Beaks thinks about the debate?  Right?  No...  well who cares I'm going to tell you anyway.

The consensus seems to be that Biden beat the Alaskan "maverick," while Palin, "...did a better job than expected."  I wish my job performance could be rated in such a way.  You know, my boss observes me and then in our meeting afterwards says, "Hey, Mr. W, that lesson you gave was average.  I mean I was expecting a complete disaster, but it was a much better job than I expected."

How would you respond to that?

Anway...  Is this really the level with which we want to set the bar for the person who may possibly become President when her old fart candidate drops dead of a heart attack two weeks into office?

I don't...

But the reality is that the Vice President doesn't do anything and is really a pointless office.  Unless you are Dick Cheney, who has actually been our President for the last 8 years, but most people were too stupid to realize that's who they voted for the last two times. 

In the end, I think the debate was won hands down by Biden and just proved that Palin is a no brain "soccer mom" who sits on the sidelines of a game and says things like, "Oh yeah, the economy is bad you know...  my husband said so, but anyway did you watch Desperate Houswives last night?" in between her two sips of Starbucks latte that she drove her SUV to on the other side of town cause the one down the block from her house closed down and she just can't figure out why. 

I realize that was a long sentence but no brain soccer moms rarely have periods.  They have pills for that, which their husbands overpriced Health Insurance pays for.

The people she is reaching out to...  they don't care about the economy, or Iraq, or the Government.  Sure they like to act like they care at soccer and hockey games to give themselves something else to talk about besided the last issue of US Weekly's Brangelina article...  but do they really care?  No!

And frankly...  as the days go by, neither do I!

Go read what the Christains say instead, because they are running this mess of a country anyway...  not me.

Friday Questions.... Heath and the Joker?

Has anyone seen The Dark Knight yet?

 I saw it yesterday, and while it most certainly was not as good as the first one, it was pretty good.  It was only as good as the Joker made it though as  Heath Ledger was pretty amazing.  As the Joker he really stole the show.  I recommend the flick to anybody just to see his performance.  So...  check it out this weekend if you get the chance!  Or tell me what you think...

I give it three and a half beaks!  Just cause of the Joker.

What's up with the Rooster?  I have been assured by the young man earlier this week that he is driving back to the Midwest for good this weekend.  Welcome back buddy!

How come No Beaks doesn't have its own domain?  Ahhhhh....  you spoke too soon.  www.NoBeaks.net will be available come Monday as well.  So No Beaks and Mr W Co has branched out into the world of domain mapping...  and purchased us some of the Net or the World Wide Web!  Just to make it easier to find us...

Friday Questions...?

Where is the Lil' Boss?  What is she doing in there?  She is only a day late...  but that is very un-W of her already!  W's are usually always on time and often even early!  Anyway, the Boss is either having her over the next six days or will be induced next Thursday...  so we'll definitely see her then.  So...  till then it's just sit here and wait until she arrives.  Have a weekend!

In other news...  there was quite a brawl in Boston last night!  How many of us have wished from time to time to do this to Coco Crisp!?!?  Check out the video here. The video shows that James Shields came up empty with the right hook, but the rest of the Rays jumped in on a gang bang of Crisp.

Friday Questions?

So what can you learn standing at the front desk of a Chicago Police District Headquarters for a half hour?  Plenty...  Or about some sort of boat party on the Fox Lake which had three CPD Desk Sargeants so busy for that time period...  that I had to investigate!

Turns out, they must have been looking at pictures of Rodney's Swing Crew Lake Petite Boat Party for which you can look at photos of here from 2007 and here from 2006.  It seems to entail boating, many girls in small bikinis and a lot of drinking!

That's what I learned at the front desk of a Chicago Police District Headquarters...  then Officer Garcia showed up and made sure my car seat was installed properly.

Friday Questions... Stimulus?

Has anybody else gotten their stimulus checks yet?

Funny how that question could go both ways.  However, I'm not sure who you would go to to check your stimulus.  I'm not even sure what your stimulus would be...

As far as the money our fine President was supposed to dole out...  we've gotten nothing yet.  Today is the day if they are sending it electronically.  We checked it out at the IRS Website.  It all depends on the last two digits of the person who filed the taxes or whose name was first if filing jointly.  And if you got your 2007 tax return by check, it will come later than if you did direct deposit.  If you make more than 150,000 a year, you get nothing!  So...  being as all the rest of you who read this blog are independently wealthy, you'll all get nothing!

The Boss and I are supposed to get ours today...  we plan to go out this weekend and stimulate the economy with it.  Sounds fun...  doesn't it?

Personally, I wanted to donate it to a food relief fund for starving children in Mumbai, but the Boss wants to go buy flowers for the back deck.  And you know...  priorities! 

Truthfully...  I don't even know if there are starving children in Mumbai.  I'm sure there are. I mean there are starving children everywhere...  right?

Anybody remember about that war we have going on?

Last weekend in Chicago there were a total of 36 shootings and 9 deaths.  That doesn't include the shooting and deaths of the five people killed in their Southside home during the week, which would push that number up to 41 and 14.

In Iraq this month there have been 39 US deaths.  There have been 19 soldiers killed in Afghanistan so far in 2008.  These statistics come from iCasualties.org.

These numbers are unsettling...

But at least they caught the guy who punched Cheryl Burton! I thought it was going to turn out to be Waurner Saunders...  no such luck.

Friday Questions...

So...  what is today?

It is my birthday...  the big 3-0.  The one that hearkens to the beginning of the end.  If you'd have asked me 10 years ago whether I'd be married with a kid on the way by my 30th birthday I'd a called you wacked, bonkers...  even cracked!

But no...  here I am, 30 and married with child up and quickly approaching.  And as Manny pointed out, with only three friends. 

Better than none!  And anyway I'll always have Jack and Jim when things get tough.  They've kept Manny warm at nights...  haven't they.  When he's out there on the prairie with his people.  Crazy hick bastard!!!!

Anyway...  I had grand plans to release my first feature film via YouTube...  but it won't upload.  I think the file is to big or the something.  I'm not sure.  What a let down.

So I'll just end this now...  Everyone hear about how the Rooster bought a new dog?  I hope they have two bathrooms down there!  Everyone have a great weekend and Go Badgers!
